Mont du Lac des Cygnes is an amazing hike located in the Charlevoix region of Quebec. More specifically, it is situated in Grand-Jardins national park.
The hike is considered to be moderate, and it starts with a wide trail surrounded by the beautiful forest and views. From Lake Georges, the trail starts to become narrow, leading to wooden shelter structures in the wood that is mostly used during the Winter season.
The trail is well marked and maintained, and particularly beautiful during Winter. Especially the lake being frozen, making it possible to be in the center of it. It is also worth mentioning that during the intermediate seasons, the trail can become frosty. In this case, it is strongly recommended to wear spikes.
From the lake to the top, and whatever the season is, hiking poles are a must. The end starts with a summit push and leads to a magnificent 360 degree view of the surrounding mountains.
The best times to hike this mountain are from June through October, and January through March. The full trail consists of a 9 Km back and forth which includes a 200 meters summit push to reach the top. The refuge can be easily found near the lake, indicating that you are getting closer to the narrow parts and the steep uphill.
The mountain is usually windy at the top, with higher speeds during Winter. Windproof jackets and good protective gears are recommended.
