Abris Sous Roches is a hiking trail located in the Massif du Sud Regional park. The park features a wide area of hiking trails and campgrounds, and it is situated in the heart of Chaudières-Appalaches region, Quebec.
The hike is considered to be easy to moderate and the trail is very well maintained, with a majority of the path being surrounded by maple trees.
We went there during the fall season, so we had the chance to admire the colorful trees, however, many people informed us about how beautiful the path becomes during Winter for snowshoeing.
The trail also has some caves and ladders to use, which makes it interesting and fun to do.
The best times to hike this mountain are from June through October and the full trail consists of a 5 Km Loop.
The hike took us to a small loop within, that we mistakenly did in reverse the first time (We missed the sign at first), but we managed to go through it again the right direction. We also made a new friend along the way and was hiking with us from the start.
It is also worth mentioning, that this trail welcomes a lot of families, thanks to its simple crossings, along with the panoramic view at the top.
