Sentier des Loups (The Wolves Trail) is a beautiful hike located in Jacques Cartier National Park. It starts at the far end of the park, near the river, and crosses the forest to reach multiple viewpoints.
The hike is considered to be moderate to difficult, as the first part of the path begins smoothly and it gets very steep in the second part, till you reach the end.
It is well marked and maintained, and it is considered to be a common favorite for most hikers.
The best times to hike this mountain are from June through October, especially during the fall season. The amount of colorful trees can be breathtaking.
To reach the trailhead, you have to drive all the way to Kilometer 15 and park in the nearest parking lot. Parking on the roadside, near the river, is not recommended.
The full trail consists of a 10 Km Hike to the Last Viewpoint and there is an additional viewpoint before that. In our opinion, the first one is the best in terms of view and relaxation.
Characteristics of the Two Viewpoints:
- First Viewpoint: 1.5 km
- Second Viewpoint: 2.7 km
It is worth mentioning that the trail can get really crowded on the top. So it is recommended to start your hike really early, to be able to spend a longer time surrounded by the large landscape.
