Top 5 Hikes To Do in Quebec During Autumn (2026 Guide)

Last Updated:October 16, 2026

This Autumn, I put together a list of top five hikes that I found to be accessible and well worth the drive.

Mont du Lac des Cygnes

1. Mont du Lac des Cygnes

We start with Mont du Lac des Cygnes, which is an amazing hike located in the Charlevoix region of Quebec. More specifically, it is situated in Grand-Jardins national park.

The hike is considered to be moderate, and it starts with a wide trail surrounded by the beautiful forest and views.

The trail is well marked and maintained, and particularly beautiful during this time of year. The colorful trees surrounding the vast landscape makes it a favorite for those who love Autumn.

2. Mount of Dôme

The , commonly known in French as Mont du Dôme, is an 8 Km hike split into two sections: one steep rock climb, one gradual ascent.

Both lead to a summit with views across Charlevoix. And because of how the trails connect, you can visit nearby peaks without leaving the mountain, making it a favorite for Autumn backpacking trips.

3. The Chocolate Mountain

Situated in Massif South Regional Park, this 8 Km Hike brings out the best of what the Colorful Trees have to offer during the Autumn Season. The trail is considered to be moderate and the most satisfying part in my opinion is not the top, but the forest path.

I recommend starting as early as possible cause it can get really crowded at the top.

To reach the trailhead, simply walk past the Welcome Cabin until you reach the trail sign and since it’s well maintained, it’s very easy to navigate.

4. Abris Sous Roche

Abris Sous Roche is a hiking trail located in the Massif South Regional park. The park features a wide area of hiking trails and campgrounds, and it is situated in the heart of Chaudières-Appalaches region, Quebec.

The hike is considered to be easy to moderate and the trail is very well maintained, with a majority of the path being surrounded by maple trees.

The forest blooms with colors during the Fall Season which makes it a go to during this time of year.

The trail also has some caves and ladders to use, which makes it interesting and fun to do.

Paysan Trail, Mount of Éboulements

5. Paysan Trail, Mount of Éboulements

The Paysan hiking trail, is one of the hidden gems in the province and it is considered to be easy.

It follows a forest path and leads to a panoramic view at the top, featuring a wide view of the different mountain peaks in Charlevoix as well as, Saint Lawrence River.

The mountain is well known for its colorful trees during Autumn, as well as its structural and environmental diversities.
